Description

Lake Atitlán is known as the deepest lake in Central America. To some it is 'the worlds most beautiful lake'. And this place has some climbing too! There is some roped climbing in Santa Cruz, but the lakeside has potential for deep water solo!

The volcanic rock is a little brittle in some places, but creates some interesting holds.

Deep water solo is new to this area, but when you take a boat/lancha to one of the 11 villages around the lake you can probably spot some more locations!

Please add new locations to this topo (as a project) with a picture and location.

History

In te past, the rocks have been used as a traverse to get to sunbathing spots or to jump off. In 2025, some of the routes were made accessible by removing some vegetation and the most logical lines were put up. There are a few cool open projects left for anyone to try!
